HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE LONDON DESIGN FAIR 2018

If you’ve missed the London Design Fair 2018 at the Old Truman Brewery in East London this weekend, do not despair. We were there for you.

These are a few examples of what caught our attention.

WHAT The silk-screen prints and posters of Jollygoodfellow.

WHY Lisa and Esa Tanttu’s hand-printed images combine the best of two worlds we feel very close to: the minimalism and elegance of Swedish design with the gutsier and edgier Finnish touch. Head to their website for one of our favourites, the ‘Head First Since Birth’ poster.

WHAT The nipple rug of Butler/Lindgård Studio.

WHY It’s a feminist statement piece launched at this year’s London Design Fair and a playful, yet sober reminder of the need to depatriarchise the world of design. The wool and linen rug is a collaboration with Swedish design company Kasthall.

WHAT The glass vases of Bethany Antliff.

WHY The delicate lines of her Harmony collection perfectly embody the fraught relation between mankind and the environment. Coral bleaching, plastic pollution and themes of mutualistic symbiosis of lichen are all explored in her works.

WHAT No chance of walking by when you see Golden Coo Pu.

WHY Coo celebrates the dichotomy of our urban environments, the hidden beauty of otherwise run-down cities with a bird which is seen both as a resilient creature and a pest. Head to their website to read how Coo came about.

WHAT AU_34 plant halo light.

WHY Whilst designed to highlight the beauty of a plant, it is so elegant that we felt it could be used to frame a work of art or even on its own as a light fixture.
